How to move from Todoist to TodoCity

Copy your API token in Todoist (Settings → Integrations → Developer), paste it in TodoCity's Settings → Move in → Todoist, check the preview and click Move in. TodoCity brings your projects, sections, tasks, sub-tasks, labels, comments and completed tasks straight to your Mac. The token is used only for the import and never saved.

Steps

  1. Copy your Todoist API token. In Todoist (web or app), open Settings → Integrations → Developer and click Copy API token.
  2. Connect. In TodoCity, open Settings → Move in → Todoist, paste the token and click Connect. Big accounts take a minute while completed tasks come in.
  3. Check the preview. Untick any project you'd rather leave behind; choose whether to bring completed tasks and whether priorities 1–3 become #p1–#p3.
  4. Click Move in. TodoCity backs itself up first, so you can undo it. Running it again later brings only new tasks.

No token? Use CSV files

Export each project with ⋯ → Export as CSV in Todoist (or unzip a backup from Todoist's Settings → Backups), then choose No token? Use CSV files instead and pick all the .csv files. CSV exports don't include completed tasks, so your city starts dark.
